The Sunplicity solar cooker is more than just a cooking appliance: it is the culmination of a lifetime of research, travel, and convictions. Alain Bivas, its inventor, designed it as an extension of himself: simple, reliable, mobile, but also deeply ecological and safe.
her childhood experiences to Gold medal at the Lépine Competition, going through the Costa Rican jungle and the Californian beaches of Venice Beach, Alain never stopped pursuing a slightly crazy dream: to make the Solar cooking for everyone, without compromising on performance or security.
Sunplicity was born out of this requirement. Lightweight, plastic-free, and assembleable in one minute, it reflects a philosophy: cooking with the power of the sun, simply.

Alain asserts that he has always had a special relationship with the sun. As a child, he would speak to it as if it were a confidante. Is this due to that special moment he shared with his father when the latter carried out a scientific experiment: setting fire to a dead leaf with a simple magnifying glass?
This scene may remind you of childhood memories. For Alain, it was a real revelation about the power of the sun's rays.
From then on, he never stopped trying to tame them. And this, even if it could prove dangerous, like this home made parabola, moulded in a common pile of sand placed directly on the floor of his room.
Then came the one designed to impress the chaps, capable of setting a ball of paper alight in under seven seconds.

No wonder the Sunplicity solar cooker has made mobility one of its primary strengths. It's a chip off the old block.
Is it a coincidence that Alain exiled himself to a sun-drenched land: the west coast of the United States? Be that as it may, at 19 years old, he deposited his suitcases in Los Angeles, the city of angels.
He supports himself by joining a theatre troupe. Moving between acting and mime, he particularly focuses on creating and maintaining sets and develops his DIY skills. This experience is perhaps not insignificant. It taught him the art of doing a lot with little, of innovating.
But above all, he discovers the work that will turn his life upside down: «Heavens flame» Of Joseph Radabaugh, the solar cooking dictionary.
He then realises that the Solar power can be used to create an ecological solar oven. And already, the need to take on new challenges is pressing him. He resumes his journey.
The Costa Rican jungle, one of Mother Nature's last wild bastions. A region where, in Alain's hands, everything is built or repaired with bamboo and palm leaves. In these lands, far from all civilisation, hidden by lush vegetation, ecology is not an empty word, but a way of life.
Here, Alain makes do with what nature offers. There's no question of harming it, it is the source of all life.
Alain tinkers. He works so hard and so well that, soon, he creates his first box solar oven.
The foundations have been laid. The idea has taken root, but it still needs to develop. Everything remains to be invented to adapt solar cooking to Western uses: culinary habits, safety, practicality... After three years of a complete change of scenery, he is returning home.

Back in France, Alain rolls up his sleeves. He adapts his concept to our consumption habits. Because he is well aware that simply championing the benefits of ecological cooking won't be enough to win people over. Little by little, the specifications expand. He will design seven prototypes before the final version is born: The Sunplicity solar cooker.
Some parabolic solar cookers are not without their flaws, particularly in terms of safety.
Indeed, when the sun's infrared rays are reflected by the mirror, they converge at a precise point called the focal point. However, depending on the angle of reflection, the focal point can move and exit the intended heating area, thus risking the outbreak of fires. This is not to be taken lightly. The heating power is such that a simple tea towel can ignite at a distance of four metres.
Alain refuses to take such a risk with his product's users. The idea then germinates in his mind of a deep parabola, concave in shape instead of flat.
Not only will the height of the walls eliminate any danger of accidental fire, but what's more, the The mirror will remain cold, thus eliminating any risk of burns.
Another advantage of the deep parabolic dish is that it cooks more harmoniously and gently. Food retains its original flavour and nutritional value.
Finally, Alain creates a device that allows the dish to disengage automatically in case of a gust of wind. This eliminates any risk of the appliance tipping over.
Thus equipped, the Sunplicity solar cooker will be completely safe, freeing budding solar cooks from any constraints.
Solar energy cannot completely replace traditional cooking appliances. To establish itself as a Credible and cost-effective ecological alternative, a solar cooker must be usable anywhere. Both at home and on holiday. And it should not encroach on our living space.
It's decided. Between an oven or a solar barbecue, he won't choose. The final model will need to meet everyone's culinary requirements. He will create the portable solar cooker The most compact in its class.
The solar parabola is the most suitable technology to entice discerning consumers as we are. Compared to tube ovens or box-type models, it alone benefits from:
Manufacturing a product that advocates the use of clean energy makes no sense if it is not itself immaculate.
Alain sets out in search of eco-responsible materials and approves the use of aluminium:

When Alain Bivas presenting the Sunplicity solar cooker at the Lépine competition, he was under no illusion. Perhaps was he unaware of the work he had put in in his workshop. Yet, he had created a product:
The Sunplicity is clearly at the cutting edge High-end solar cooker, unusable, and for which no maintenance fees are to be considered.
The jury was not mistaken. By awarding him the gold medal, they recognised the ingenuity of its inventor and, at the same time, highlighted the importance of implementing innovative and eco-responsible solutions for the future of the planet.
The Sunplicity solar cooker is a reflection of its creator. Genuine and committed.
